FALL(ING) LEAVES

It’s a toss-up between Fall & Spring as my favorite season. In Spring, it is Spring… in Fall, it is Fall.

Albert Camus said, “Autumn is a second Spring when every leaf is a flower.” Perhaps I don’t have to choose.

During Fall – the transition from summer to winter when the days are shorter & the temperature turns crisp – we notice vibrant green leaves change to warmer hues right before our eyes.

The Fall leaves captivate the senses:

SEE … the dark burgundy, blood red, burnt orange, bright salmon, canary yellow & deep amber high atop the branches, fluttering down & landing as a multi-colored carpet beneath your feet

HEAR … the crunching under your feet as you walk, the acorns dropping to the ground, the rustle in the breeze

SMELL … the unique aroma of freshly raked leaves or the scattered pile you just jumped into & the crispness in the autumn air

TASTE … the hot spiced/spiked apple cider* you sip as you admire the colorful beauty around you

TOUCH … the leaves’ smooth velvety skin, the raised veins & the firm stem

I think this is my favorite season after all.

To the Fall & her changing leaves,
